Abner is a tax executive director with more than 15 years of experience in Singapore and cross-border tax matters.
Abner has been actively involved in providing tax services to clients in technology, energy and natural resource, real estate, financial services, fund management, private client, family businesses, and various industries. He has also assisted in several international and cross-border structuring projects involving financial institutions, infrastructure funds, hedge funds, private equity investments, pre-IPO listings; and merger and acquisition deals including performing tax due diligence, advising on investment structures, and corporate restructuring work.
Abner has provided comprehensive and practical tax planning assistance in tax issues relating to a wide range of products and transactions such as lending and trade financing, debt capital market, qualifying debt securities issuance for infrastructure projects, treasury functions, cash pooling, exotic derivatives, hybrid instruments, fund tax exemption schemes, financial sector tax incentives, asset securitisation, aircraft and vessel finance leasing, private wealth planning and trust structuring.
Besides working closely with lawyers, bankers and other professionals involved in various corporate deals, Abner has also been involved with assisting clients in applying to and liaising with Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, Singapore Ministry of Finance and Monetary Authority of Singapore for various tax incentives and rulings.
