Singapore, 15 December 2022 - BDO Singapore celebrates its 50th anniversary with a $50,000 donation to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (STSPMF), which supports and provides financial assistance to children from low-income families in Singapore. The Fund has benefitted more than 200,000 students from low-income families since the Fund started in 2000.
Mr Frankie Chia, the Managing Partner of BDO Singapore, presented the $50,000 cheque donation to Ms Tan Bee Heong, STSPMF General Manager, at the SPH Media Centre.
Frankie Chia said, "As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, many low-income families may still face financial difficulties. We hope the contribution will help the children prepare for school in the new academic year. Supporting children and the youth is a pillar of our charitable giving strategy."
This year, BDO Singapore celebrates its 50th anniversary. The firm engages in several meaningful initiatives as part of the celebration. For example, from 18 August to 16 September 2022, the firm organised the BDO 50 Virtual Run & Walk for Charity to raise funds for three adopted charities, namely, Club Rainbow (Singapore), Thye Hua Kwan Nursing Home Limited and the Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped. All the charities have served admirably to the community in their respective causes. In September 2022, BDO Singapore also donated S$50,000 to the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) to establish the BDO Golden Jubilee Study Grant to provide financial support to full-time students from low-income families to pursue their bachelor's degrees in SUSS.
Also, BDO Singapore has been an active contributor to ISCA Cares for many years. ISCA Cares is a charity by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants that provides youths with academic potential assistance to pursue a career in accountancy through financing their accountancy education at the tertiary level.
