BDO announces new firm in Bolivia

01 February 2019

BDO is pleased to announce the admission of a new firm in Bolivia. Formerly KPI Auditores y Consultores, the new firm becomes a BDO firm in its own right and will operate under the BDO brand. With it comes the valuable joint experience of a senior, 7-person management team and a strong roster of clients in manufacturing, mining, not-for-profit, investment services and agriculture. The new firm is based in La Paz and has an office in Santa Cruz.

The new BDO firm in Bolivia is led by Managing Partner Marcelo Berthin, Johnny Zenteno, Juan Carlos Tacachira and Maria Jose Abuawad, based in Santa Cruz. Six of the new firm’s seven partners have experience and are familiar with BDO’s methodologies, tools, as well as the global organisation’s strong client service-oriented approach.

Marcelo Berthin is an A&A professional with more than 30 years of audit and tax experience. Marcelo also possesses vast experience in the financial management of development projects with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the World Bank.

Marcelo says: “BDO Bolivia’s goal is to deliver outstanding tax, audit and advisory services to clients, and to see them benefit from the global reach and expertise of the BDO organisation. The former firm already ranks seventh among Bolivia’s audit firms, so we’re in a very favourable position to grow. The recent increase in business enquiries from the UK, Germany, Panama, Chile and Brazil that we’ve received through BDO’s global organisation confirm this and points to further expansion for BDO in Bolivia.”

Albert Lopez, BDO’s Regional CEO Americas, adds: “I am very pleased to have a leading new firm in Bolivia and to welcome it to BDO. With significant experience in Bolivia, servicing national and international companies and institutions, Marcelo and his team have an established reputation that will launch BDO onto new paths of growth in Bolivia. The new firm’s ability to provide integrated solutions to its clients in the country will, when combined with BDO’s global reach, see business coming in from the wider Latin American region and beyond.”
