One Belt One Road Report 2015

02 November 2015

The "One Belt One Road" initiative was announced by President Xi Jinping of China in 2013. It is the largest development project to date and will directly affect 4.4 billion people with a collective GDP of US$2 trillion once completed.

"One Belt One Road" includes two main components, the land-based Silk Road Economic Belt and the oceangoing 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. By pushing for increased connectivity and cooperation among Eurasian countries, this initiative underlines China's attempt to enhance its trade and political relations and to boost its growth by exporting its capital, technology and capacity globally.

BDO Singapore's China Desk analyses the scale and impacts of this initiative to inform our readers about its strategic objectives, financial system, infrastructure networks, benefits to ASEAN, opportunities for Singapore as well as the future challenges.
