Our Private Client Services Tax team is organising a complimentary 45 minutes round table session which aims to provide a general update on the changes to the UK tax landscape for UK residential property ownership for both UK resident and non-UK resident owners and an overview of the changes to the UK tax regime for UK resident (non-UK domiciled) individuals from April 2017.

Specifically, the session will cover: -
•    Current UK tax position for non-UK resident investors into UK residential property;
•    Changes to the taxation of UK residential properties from April 2017 and the impact for investors;
•    High-level options of holding structures; and
•    A summary of the changes to the UK remittance basis regime.

Wendy Walton | Head of Global Private Client Services

Wendy Walton specialises in the taxation of high net worth individuals. She has almost 30 years experience, all at BDO in corporate, personal inheritance and trust tax with a particular focus on private clients. Wendy deals with UK and international families with complex tax issues. She particularly enjoys dealing with the interaction between corporate entities, individual shareholders and their trusts. Wendy works with her clients to develop tax solutions that ensure their tax risk is managed and supports her clients overall family wealth and succession objectives. Wendy works closely with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and was the Chair of the STEP England & Wales Technical Committee from 2011 to 2015. She has also been recognised through independent research by Citywealth, Spears and more recently Wendy was once again recognised by eprivateclient as one of the 50 Most Influential 2017.

 

James Capper | Tax Director (BDO UK)

James Capper specialises in the taxation of high net worth individuals. He joined BDO in 1998 and has experience in personal, inheritance and trust tax with a particular focus on private clients. James deals with UK and international based high net worth individuals and families, dealing with complex tax issues and interacts with colleagues in international member firms to ensure his client’s worldwide tax exposures are considered. James’ experience includes planning for individuals prior to arrival in the UK and also advice for individuals leaving the UK and their ongoing UK tax exposures. James spent a period of time working in the Channel Islands, has a background in accounting as well as tax, is a Chartered Tax Adviser and also a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant. James was previously included in the Top 35 under 35 list of private client advisers.
